La Pine Wedding
La Pine is an unincorporated community in Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined La Pine as a census-designated place (CDP). The census definition of the area may not precisely correspond to local understanding of the area with the same name.
La Pine is part of the Bend, Oregon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 5,799 at the 2000 census. The community is in an isolated area of Central Oregon, consisting of a loose collection of homes and businesses along U.S. Highway 97 about 23 miles southeast of Bend. Most of the residential development is second-home, vacation-homes, and retirement homes, and concealed from the highway itself.[citation needed] Several peaks of the Cascade Range are prominently visible from the community.
La Pine is in the valley of the Little Deschutes River, a tributary of the Deschutes River. The river provides recreational opportunities such as fishing, swimming, canoeing, and other leisure activities.
